People from all over the world showed up in force on Friday to demonstrate against the dolphin drive hunts in Taiji. Up to around 1,000 people gathered outside the Japanese Embassy in London to make their voices heard. The protest was attended by Ric O’Barry, who was one of the first to raise awareness of the plight of the dolphins.
The brutal drive hunts in Taiji see dolphins being killed and captured in their thousands. They are either used for the meat trade, despite being contaminated with dangerous levels of mercury, or are held in tiny pens where they can barely move, until such time as they are bought by a marine park or dolphinarium.
The next London protest is on 17th January 2015, be there if you can!
